Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology is a specialized branch of radiology where radiologists diagnose and/or treat diseases without surgery by guiding microscopic needles or tubes through your body's arteries and organs using X-rays and other radiologic equipment, allowing radiologists to obtain biopsies, deliver medications directly to organ site and perform many other procedures, from vascular procedures to treating oncologic and neurologic disorders.

WellStar West Georgia Medical Center currently has two board-certified radiologists with expertise in interventional radiology — Drs. Jeremy Ferris and Scott Monen.

WellStar WGMC has used interventional radiology to preform uterine fibroid embolizations, place dialysis catheters and more for a variety of different medical practices. Drs. Ferris and Monen specialize in general radiology, abdominal radiology, oncology imaging and vascular imaging. They also are practiced in central venous access port placement, Positron Emission Tomography (PET), oncology and bone marrow biopsies and various vascular interventions.
