Cancer Center Partners with the State of Georgia

The Georgia Comprehensive Cancer Registry (GCCR) is a statewide, population-based cancer registry collecting data from all cancer cases diagnosed among Georgia residents since Jan. 1, 1995. Our Cancer Abstractor collects data for each cancer patient diagnosed (identifying information is removed) and/or treated at the Enoch Callaway Cancer Center and submits it each month to the GCCR. This information is used to develop strategies and policies for cancer prevention, control and treatment.

The availability of this data at the state level allows health researchers to analyze geographic, racial and other factors affecting the state’s population. It also helps determine where early detection, educational or other programs are most needed.
