Patients who are critically ill or injured as a result of heart attack, stroke or accident require immediate care from a highly trained team of specialists. The WellStar West Georgia Medical Center critical care team is ready to act whenever a seriously ill patient arrives at the hospital. State-of-the-art monitoring and diagnostic equipment read vital signs and deliver the data instantly to medical personnel. Our Critical Care team includes physicians, nurses and other specialists who are specially trained in critical care. Once the patient is stabilized, the team continuously monitors the patient’s condition and is available to provide any necessary medications or procedures.
We welcome family and visitors at our facility, as it is important for the overall recovery of the patient. When visitation must be delayed, family members can call the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) directly at (706) 845-3112 to get an update on a patient’s status.
Visitation hours are held 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., except during shift change — 6:45 to 7:15 a.m./p.m. Visitation hours are modified during shift change to allow nurses to exchange patient care information and follow up with the patient.
WellStar WGMC provides an open and flexible visitation policy to accommodate the patient’s need for family support while also allowing our nurses to provide the critical care our patients require.
We ask that you help promote quality patient care by following these visitation guidelines:
Occasionally, visitors may be asked to leave the patient’s room. Such instances may include an emergency, a procedure, a physician’s examination or when the patient needs uninterrupted rest.
