West Georgia Health for 2013 was named a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by the Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America, after being recognized by the commission for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions. The clinical processes focus on care for heart attack, pneumonia, surgery, children’s asthma, stroke and venous thromboembolism, as well as inpatient psychiatric services.
West Georgia Medical Center, West Georgia Home Care and West Georgia Hospice/Hospice LaGrange are accredited by the Joint Commission. To achieve this accreditation, these divisions of West Georgia Health have demonstrated compliance with the Joint Commission’s nationally recognized health care standards.
West Georgia Health Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (Accreditation #14397) and licensed by the Georgia Department of Regulatory Services (License #141-001) and the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (License #11D0665282).
The Enoch Callaway Cancer Clinic has earned commendations from the Commission on Cancer in addition to receiving accreditation. The commission reviews cancer programs nationwide every three years, scoring them on 36 standards in eight categories.>
The Weight Loss Surgery program at West Georgia Health has been designated as an Accredited Center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program, formerly known as an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. This designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in obesity surgery.
